For the last 10 years at least, it sat unmoved in a driveway in Texas. It baked in the sun and played host to many generations of mice and squirrels. What they didn’t chew through, they destroyed with waste. The interior had been largely unmodified since it was new. There had been a second layer of carpet added over the original avocado-green carpet many years back, but the curtains and upholstery were a bit of a time-capsule, apart from being ruined by heat, time, and mice. I was bummed to find that almost every inch of interior furniture and cabinetry would need to go. I started pulling out the mess. Even with a breathing mask on, I could only work in there for about an hour a day. It was hot and gross work, but refused to give up.

I didn’t take any photos of the interior when it first arrived. I think part of me didn’t want to remember the scale of the mess and damage.
